Wine Delivery FAQ

When can I talk with a somm? 
A SipSend somm is available to accept and answer Ask A Somm form submissions from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM Pacific, Wednesday through Saturday. Outside of those hours, a SipSend somm will respond as soon as possible.
What are the fees? 
All wines are offered by our partner restaurants and wine bars at retail pricing. There is a flat $10 fee for delivery. We offer free advice from our sommeliers via our Ask A Somm form. Virtual experiences start at $65. 
Must orders meet a minimum dollar amount for delivery?
No minimum!
What is your refund policy? 
SipSend is not a licensed retailer of alcohol. All purchases made through the site are fulfilled directly by one or more of our licensed merchant partners. Due to California state law, our merchant partners are unable to accept refunds except in cases of flawed bottles. If you are not satisfied with your purchase for any reason, please reach out to
I just placed an order at 5:30 PM today. Is there a chance I get my wine tonight? 
Unfortunately, we are only able to offer same-day delivery on orders placed prior to 5:00 PM. Orders placed after this time will be delivered the following delivery day. 
Can I order today and receive my wine next week when I'm back in town?
Our featured selections are always changing, so please check back and order for same-day or following day delivery.
Can I request a specific delivery time? 
If you do have a time preference for delivery, or any other special delivery instructions, please enter that at checkout. At this point we are not able to guarantee specific delivery windows, but will always do our best to accommodate requests.
Do I need to be there to sign for it? 
In accordance with state and federal laws, we do need to check ID for each delivery. We have put measures in place to do this in a safe way with respect for physical distancing. Please make sure that an adult will be available to sign at your stated delivery address. In cases when an adult is unavailable to sign, orders will be subject to additional restocking or redelivery fees. 
I had a bad experience with a sommelier at a restaurant awhile back. Do I have to talk to a sommelier to get wine from you? 
We are sorry to hear that! We take great pride in not only our wine knowledge, but also in providing warm hospitality. But as much as we love chatting with customers, you need not consult us. Once you have quickly set up your account, you are more than welcome to head straight to the store and choose some amazing wines to enjoy tonight.
I live in Oakland and just tried ordering wine. Why isn't my order going through? 
As we fine-tune our operations during this initial launch period, we are currently serving only a portion of San Francisco. In the near future, we intend to serve the whole city and beyond! For now, please email for delivery inquiries in other Bay Area locations.
I really want a specific wine and I'm not seeing it on your website. Are your sommeliers able to source it for me? 
Our selection is updated weekly with bottles our somms are most excited to share with you. Although we can't add additional options immediately, we do welcome feedback and love to hear your ideas. Shoot us your suggestion here.
My friend just got engaged. Can I send them Champagne? 
We think that's a great idea, and are happy to add a handwritten note card as well! If you can, please pass along any special delivery instructions or a preferred time when you know your friend will be home. Unfortunately, we are unable to send gifts outside of our delivery area. 
I've been looking to join a new wine club. Do you offer one? 
We're working on it! In the meantime, we are happy to put together a few customized selections to meet your tastes and send them right over.
How do I schedule a virtual tasting? 
Customers shopping in our store are able to add a virtual experience to their cart. If you are using our form to chat with a sommelier, we will add it to your order as you indicate. Upon checkout, you will be able to reserve your time slot. See you then!
